Coronavirus-related restrictions are creating new workplace challenges as businesses and organizations re-open. Staff and customers may have differing views on the importance of personal space and safety, leading to an increased risk of confrontation. Prevent and de-escalate conflict before it turns into violence by learning strategies, tools, and resources to use to create a safe space for all.

- discussion on the importance of training employees to recognize these stressors in themselves and others
- de-escalation techniques
- details on the what to do if things turn violent, when to call 911, and how to plan and prepare

Gene Paluzzi, Instructor, Heart to Beat, LLC
Gene Paluzzi is an experienced, dedicated, and accomplished law enforcement veteran of the Maryland State Police (MSP) and Harford County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) with over 27 years of public service. As a Lieutenant and Commander with the MSP, Gene served in a leadership role while providing police services to the citizens of Maryland including traffic safety, crime reduction, and homeland security. While serving as the Barrack Commander of College Park Barrack “Q”, Gene commanded a barrack of 39 troopers patrolling the third most congested interstates in the United States. He was previously designated by the Superintendent as an Appointing Authority authorized to hire, terminate, and discipline 2,399 personnel. Gene holds a Master of Science Degree in Management and Leadership from the Johns Hopkins University.
